I feel like my TV is too much of a distraction and would like a more easily ignored solution, but would prefer the option of watching cable TV as well as DVDs and PS3. Is VLC region free dvd player? I found a great bargain online of DVD's i want that are alot cheaper than were i live. But the region is different. So i dont have a diffrent DVD to test VLC. Does anyone else think the movie CLOVERFIELD was totally lame? I hate that shaky cam stuff. They didn't do anything with the parasites. The ads showed everything BUT the monster. there is way too much exposition at the beginning or rather that scene takes way too long. DVD repair shops in Manila? I bought a cheap DVD player(China made) 2 months ago. I know the risk of buying one but I still got it anyway thinking it's a good bargain. It has been good for awhile but now, it wont play any disc. It will just throw out a "No Disc" error when I put in a dvd. I dont want to buy another one as it's just really our spare but I dont want to throw it as well. I would really want to have it repaired. Are there any shops in Manila(preferably within Makati to Pasig area) where I can have it repaired? Have you ever had a garage sale and do you have any interesting stories from that experience? I just had a yard sale for the first time in my life and I couldn't believe what an awful experience it was! Even though I priced everything low ('cause I am really in a rush to sell everything), people still bargain, make unreasonable offers (such as $3 for a DVD player) and then scoff at me when I say no :) Some also went inside the house and started opennig kitchen cabinets, even though I specified that only the stuff outside is for sale. Others bring kids with them and let them throw stuff around without disciplining them. Etc etc etc I was so tired after yesterday, that I decided I'd rather take the rest of my stuff to charity than go thru this one more day. Where can I purchase HD-DVD's at a retailer? Where is the concern for the consumer? I recently had to replace the DVD player in my bedroom. It was hooked up to a 42" 1080P LCD TV. I wanted a new "standard" DVD player with a HDMI out that upconverts to 1080P. I wont pay the current price for a Blu-ray player. Plus I already own a 60G PS3. The models with the features I wanted cost 70$-80$. I ended up purchasing a nice Toshiba HD-DVD player fpr 68$, it has HDMI out, upconverts standard discs to 1080P, and has HD-DVD playback which I consider a bonus. However, I stopped in Best Buy with the hopes of picking up some HD-DVD's for dirt cheap to find out that they completely pulled them from their shelves. I was told by a store clerk that they don't want to carry product that's not valuable to the customer. He then told me that Wal-mart did the same. Why aren't these things in bargain bins, on liquidation? How does this put the consumer first? I think places like Best Buy and Wal Mart are just retaliating for what's happened. I know I can get them online but any retailers?

Hi, I'm considering selling a whole bunch of movie DVD's of mine that I no longer need, but I want to find out the current market value on all of them first, so I know what to tell them when they ask "how much are you looking for for this?" How come so many eBay buyers don't know about price comparison sites? Is anyone else baffled by the fact that people bidding on eBay frequently bid far higher for something, even when it is second hand, than they could buy it new from one or more of the reputable online shops. I just watched an easily available (new) Disney DVD sell for 53p more than they would have from the Jersey branch of one of the best known internet shops, and then they have to pay £2 postage on top of that. I would have thought that if people were knowledgeable enough about the internet to be using eBay, they would also know there were price comparison sites where you could shop around for the lowest price. I'm sure it is good from the eBay seller's point of view, but do any of you buyers not realise you can save yourself money? The reason I ask is that these people are driving up the price of things on eBay, and if they weren't prepared to bid so high those of us who do know about those sites could get better bargains.

Cheapest Laptop in the UK at the moment? What is the cheapest laptop in the UK at the moment, or the best "value" entry level laptop. Is it just me? People keep making a big deal over how cheap hd dvd players are getting and to me it's not really a big mystery. I know so many people who have got one recently or showed me a link to some web deal. There's a format war going on and blu ray is winning, hd dvd players are cheap because they are probably going to be the new betamax within 12 months and companies are trying to offload them while they still can. People are buying doomed hardware and eventually will not be able to buy any new releases. Is it only me who can see that this is the obvious reason for all the bargain hd dvd players hitting the market?

Where do the films at the movies go after they are shown for a period of time? im talking about the actual movie films in the projectors that they traditionally have that projects movies. Not the digital ones that you can buy in a store (I do know they use those for the local advertising) all i know so far is: 1) they start at the nearest main theaters 2) then they shown at the bargain theaters (like the $1 or $2 theaters) and after that are they destroyed? or are they sent back to the film industry? or sell them off? Diet advice on a budget...please help? I am a student and I can not afford expeniseve groceries. I try to eat healthy, but it is really difficult. Wheat pasta, healthy ceriel, chicken breast, are all super expesive compared to the unhealthy alternatives. Even fresh fruit and vegetables are expensive. I cut coupons, but I can't go from store to store bargain shopping, as i do not have a car. Does anyone have any suggestions for healthy eating on a budget? This is really important to me. My wedding is in less than a year, so i have to save money for that and loose the weight. By the way, please don't anyone tell me I'm beautiful the way I am. I know that. I am not unconfident, I am medically unhealthy and have a great deal of weight to loose to have a healthy BMI. I am doing this for my health not for aesthetics. Laptop help what spec to get? I’m thinking of getting a laptop rather than a desktop machine and as a relatively un-techie person need some advice on the spec. I really want to get it right so have an all round machine. I intend to spend around £500-600 ($1000) I need it to access the net via wireless, carry out basic Office Applications, play DVD’s, download video and music and occasionally output to a projector. If I could play a few games i.e. Half Life 2 that would be perfect. I often work on a number of things at once so need to be able to run a number of applications at the same time. I will be using it on the go so need it to be relatively portable. Opinions: Should I keep a laptop with no warranty? My father has bought a new laptop. It's pretty decent, has long battery life (was told it was 6hrs..unsure about that though), vista, dvd recorder, etc... I'd like to use it for classes due to the battery life. Unfortunately, my father got it at a bargain deal (that's all he'll ever shop for), and the warranty is estimated at about 50% the cost of the laptop itself. Due to this my father said he won't take out a warranty on it. I feel uncomfortable with saving important files on a laptop that I'll be carrying around, knowing that if something happens to it then that'll be it. My father, who never uses computers, doesn't understand my concern with saving files onto a computer that he says we can just "throw away" if it breaks. Your opinions - should I refuse to use it or try it out? I'm not accident prone or anything like that, but I figure there's always bound to be a problem occur. Update: I"m not complaining.
